Born on August 21, 1978, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Kanika hails from a business-oriented family with a rich musical heritage. She pursued her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music from Lucknow’s prestigious Bhatkhande Music Institute, after attending Loreto Convent School. Her musical training began early under the tutelage of Pandit Ganesh Prasad Mishra. At just 11 years old, she had the honor of performing on All India Radio (AIR).

Beyond singing, Kanika is also a skilled Kathak dancer, showcasing her versatility in the arts.

She has an older brother, Sasha Kapoor, who runs a company based in London.

Husband & Children

Kanika met her first husband, Dr. Raj Chandok (a friend of her cousin), at a family wedding. They married in 1997 and moved to London, where they had three children: two daughters, Aayana and Samara, and a son, Yuvraaj, all holding British citizenship. Their marriage ended in 2012 after a separation in 2010 due to irreconcilable differences.

On May 20, 2022, she married NRI businessman Gautam Hathiramani.

Career

Kanika’s singing career launched in 2012 with “Jugni Ji,” a remix featuring Dr. Zeus, which achieved massive success. Her Bollywood debut came in 2014 with the hugely popular “Baby Doll” for the film Ragini MMS 2.

She has since sung many chart-topping songs including “Lovely,” “Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan,” “Nachan Farrate,” “Jugni Peeke Tight Hai,” “Jab Chaye Tera Jadoo,” and “Beat Pe Booty.” She’s also performed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on two occasions.

Beyond music, Kanika owns a fashion brand, “Kanika Kapoor: House of Chikankari,” promoting the art of embroidery. She has also served as a brand ambassador for 88 Rue du Rhone.

Controversies
