Born on Sunday, February 23, 1958, in Kolkata, Nazneen (now Nazneen Merchant) is a Pisces. She completed her schooling at Mumbai’s Hill Grange High School. Initially aspiring to be an air hostess, her mother’s concerns steered her toward a different path. A chance encounter at a family party with film director Satyen Bose launched her acting career with the film “Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa” (1972).

Career

Her acting debut in 1972’s “Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa” was followed by a role as Jaya Bachchan’s sister in “Kora Kagaz.” Despite numerous offers for supporting roles, Nazneen selectively chose her projects. Her filmography includes “Chalte Chalte” (1976), “Fauji” (1976), “Dildaar” (1977), “Khuda Kasam” (1981), and “Do Ustad” (1982). She also starred in several “B” class films.

Her notable role as Kunti in the 1988 television series “Mahabharat” brought her widespread recognition. She reportedly made only 22 films throughout her career.
